Mount Teide sits In the middle of the Island of Tenerife, where it stands is 3718 meters high and is the highest mountain in Spain.  It is also the third largest ocean-island volcano in the world and is still active, although the last eruption occurred in 1909.  Access to the summit is either by foot for which a permit is needed or by cable  car which costs 25 euro per person which carrys you almost to the summit.
